Good Fish Company is an award winning family run fish processor and retailer. Founded by Denis Good in 1988 they operate a state of the art facility in Carrigaline where, with the help of around 100 dedicated staff, they produce award winning, world class seafood products.

Why Verde was hired.

Good Fish chose Verde Energy Group as their solar partner due to our experience delivering high-performance commercial solar PV systems for businesses with significant energy demand. The project required a solution that could deliver strong environmental impact, long-term savings, and reliable system performance over the lifespan of the installation. Verde provided a tailored solar PV design focused on maximising generation, improving self-sufficiency, and reducing carbon emissions. This ensured Good Fish could make a practical and measurable investment in sustainability while strengthening their long-term energy resilience.

The challenge.

Delivering a project of this scale required careful planning around system design, site access, and installation coordination. As with many commercial solar projects, it was important to ensure works were completed safely and efficiently while minimising disruption to normal business activity. The system also had to be designed around Good Fish’s energy usage profile to ensure strong levels of on-site consumption and return on investment. Verde’s engineering team developed a solution that balanced energy generation, self-sufficiency, and long-term operational value.

The outcomes.

The completed 443 kWp solar PV system is expected to generate approximately 413,137 kWh of clean electricity each year, significantly reducing Good Fish’s reliance on grid electricity. The system now provides 34.3% energy self-sufficiency, helping the business take greater control of its energy use and reduce exposure to rising electricity costs. From an environmental perspective, the installation avoids an estimated 105,334 kg of CO₂ emissions annually, the equivalent of planting 4,788 trees every year.
