Tanco
Tanco Autowrap is a second-generation, family-owned Irish agricultural manufacturer that has specialized in high-performance grassland machinery since 1963. Operating from a state-of-the-art 7,000 square meter production facility, the company is a global leader in the agricultural engineering sector, exporting its heavy-duty machinery to over 40 countries through a network of 200+ dealer partners.
Why Verde was hired.
Tanco chose Verde Energy Group for our ability to deliver a fully managed solar PV solution that aligned with both their financial and environmental objectives. Through our Deferred Payment Scheme, repayments are structured so that, over the course of the year, the savings generated by the system are expected to outweigh repayments. This made the switch to solar more accessible, allowing Tanco to reduce carbon emissions, lower energy costs, and strengthen energy resilience without compromising capital that could be used elsewhere in the business.
The challenge.
Delivering a solar PV project in a live manufacturing environment required careful planning and coordination. It was important that the installation was completed safely and efficiently, while minimising disruption to day-to-day operations, staff, and production activity. The system also had to be designed around Tanco’s energy profile to ensure strong on-site usage and long-term financial performance. Verde’s engineering team developed a solution that balanced generation, consumption, and return on investment, ensuring the system delivered both environmental and commercial value.

The outcomes.
The completed 162 kWp solar PV system is expected to generate approximately 137,534 kWh of clean electricity each year. Of this, around 86,056 kWh will be consumed directly on-site, helping Tanco reduce their reliance on grid electricity and improve overall energy efficiency. The system now provides 24.5% energy self-sufficiency and avoids approximately 31,079 kg of CO₂ emissions annually. This project marks a significant step in Tanco’s sustainability journey, delivering measurable carbon reduction, long-term cost savings, and greater control over their energy future.
