SuperValu Granard
Providing a wide range of groceries and household products to the local community.
Why Verde was hired.
SuperValu Granard sought to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability amidst rising energy costs and growing environmental concerns. To achieve these goals, they partnered with Verde Energy Group, a leading renewable energy company, to implement innovative energy solutions that would reduce their carbon footprint and lower operational costs, ensuring long-term sustainability and alignment with environmental best practices.
The challenge.
The result was a highly effective Solar Power Installation featuring solar panels integrated with optimizers. These optimizers were specifically implemented to maximize the energy production of each solar module and address various types of module mismatch-loss, including those caused by manufacturing tolerances, partial shading from a nearby wall, and aging. This ensured maximum energy output and system efficiency despite the obstruction. As a result, the Solar PV system now covers 20% of the store's annual energy needs, reducing CO2 emissions by 18.35 kg each year. With a projected payback period of just 3.5 years, this installation not only provides a clear return on investment but also significantly supports SuperValu’s sustainability and community engagement objectives
