SPAR Little Island partnered with Verde Energy Group to implement a capital-funded 20.48 kWh solar PV system, designed to enhance sustainability and reduce operational costs. This forward-thinking investment reflects the store's commitment to environmental responsibility and long-term energy efficiency. The system now generates approximately 20,143 kWh of clean electricity annually, directly offsetting a significant portion of the store’s energy needs. This results in an estimated 9,466 kg of CO₂ emissions avoided every year, supporting SPAR Little Island’s efforts to reduce its environmental footprint while benefiting from stable, self-generated power. The project showcases how local retail can lead by example in Ireland’s transition to renewable energy.
